Tech Contact

Hello Tech Contacts and other visitors!

This is the third year I've handled the state website, and I have enjoyed learning about branches around the state and seeing our AAUW mission in action.  My day job is handling a website and doing public relations, and using these job skills for the benefit of AAUW is a tremendous bonus.  I love working at the computer!

All local branches should have a designated person who regularly submits information to the branch district director, and to me as website manager. The designated person may be the VP for program, the newsletter editor, the communications chair, or someone else, but should be someone who is able to send material by email, as attachments.

Material to send includes branch news, upcoming programs, pictures (jpg attachments), and newsletters.  Some branches include their membership form.

I can convert your branch newsletter from MS Word, MS Publisher, or Adobe Pagemaker into an Adobe PDF file for easy viewing by your branch members, and others around the state. Some branches have found that emailing their newsletter to members is timely and financially advantageous!

Every branch should have a contact name, phone number (optional), and email.  Some branches have set up a "blind email" thru an online free email service, such as yahoo.  That way, whoever is handling the branch contacts just "hands off" the password to the next person, and your branch has a recognizable email.  I set up the email for my home branch, Grosse Pointe, several years ago as gpaauw @ yahoo.com  We get inquiries regarding membership and our book sale, and a LIMITED amount of spam since I embed the email.

Please feel free to contact me at any time regarding submission of information.

I am available to visit your branch and offer a workshop on digital photography (offered at the state convention in 2005) or work with your newsletter editor on newsletter design.  MS Word is a very powerful program, and once you know a few bells and whistles, you're on your way!

I look forward to hearing from you!
