The American Association of University Women and the AAUW Funds advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Since 1881, AAUW has been one of the nationn's leading voices promoting education and equity for women and girls. AAUW has a nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches, and 500 college/university institutional partners. Since AAUW's founding more than 129 years ago, members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day -- educational equity is reflected in its public policy advocacy, community programs, leadership development, conventions and conferences, national partnerships, and international connections.

STATEMENT OF DIVERSITY

In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership.  There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

SUPPORT of POLITCAL CANDIDATES POLICY

Individual members are encouraged to be politcally active and support candidates of their personal choice. However, we may not include AAUW's name or our AAUW membership and positions in our candidate endorsements. When speaking or writing about issues on behalf of AAUW, members must base their remarks on AAUW research, publications, and position papers.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT

AAUW (formerly known as American Association of University Women), founded in 1881, is open to all graduates who hold an associate's or equivalent, bachelor's or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
