Year Established  1952

Number of Members The Plymouth-Canton Branch is comprised of about ninety members, who are committed to the AAUW mission, which promotes equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, and positive societal change. Our meetings reflect this quest and also afford women the opportunity to interact and become involved in projects that support our community. Every year a number of scholarships are awarded to young women, who wish to pursue higher
education.

For many years we have supported the local GEMS conference with time, organizational, and monetary contributions. In the recent past we were instrumental in assisting with the kick-off for the Phoenix Mill Women's Museum. For over forty years we have presented our annual theater productions, which enhance our fund raising efforts and provide an opportunity for children to experience live drama.

Annual Play Information
The American Association of University Women, Plymouth-Canton Branch, is a non-profit organization that has performed children's theater for over forty years.   This talented and energetic group of professional women, includes teachers, administrators, business women and engineers, who range in age from twenty five to eighty three.  Each volunteer on average donates five hours per week for three months to make our yearly March production possible.

These plays offer a rare and unique opportunity for children of all ages to experience live drama and meet the cast at very reasonable costs.  Where else can you experience live entertainment for only $6.00 per ticket.  Proceeds from the play provide scholarships to local women seeking to further their education.

Latest Branch News

Every year in February or March this branch holds its annual children’s play.  It has become a tradition in the community as well as a fundraiser.  This year the play was “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and none other than our State President, Mickey Edell, and our State VP of Program, Sharon Belobraidich, were both on stage.  The branch netted $11,000 and networked with the Girl Scouts for this project.
