Branch Projects:
-
Christmas Wreath Sale We sell
wreaths made of balsam and white pine, decorated or undecorated. Orders are
taken in October. Wreaths are available the weekend before Thanksgiving. We
also mail wreaths anywhere in the contiguous United States. Proceeds are
used for our local scholarship fund.
-
Secret Gardens of Frankenmuth Annual
Garden Walk The walk features eight gardens in the Frankenmuth
area. We involve other community organizations such as the local Herb
Society and Hidden Harvest. The walk is held on a Sunday late in June.
Tickets are available at the Frankenmuth Community Education office. The
proceeds help us to support the Legal Advocacy Fund and the Educational
Foundation as well as several county services for women and children. These
include the Underground Railroad and the Saginaw County Child Abuse and
Neglect Council.
-
Local Scholarship Fund We
provide local scholarships to help women who wish to return to college after
a break for family or other issues. We also give scholarships to girls for a
local summer science camp.
-
Library Partnership We have
developed a relationship with the Wickson Memorial Library. We have
developed a Women’s Studies Section. Besides providing books for the
section, we have furnished it with an easy chair, lamp and table. We also
partner with the library each year during March Women’s History Month when
we sponsor special displays and a speaker series with the library.

Latest Branch News
Besides celebrating in December with a Christmas Party, this
branch was busy selling holiday wreaths as one of their fund raisers. In March
they used the posters from the Michigan Historical Museum, photos about
significant women in history, displaying them in the Wickson Memorial Library.
Their Annual Dinner Meeting was scheduled April 28 at Zehnder’s Restaurant. A
nurse practitioner who has made several trips to Liberia with the Frankenmuth
United Methodist Church will related her experiences of trying to educate and
treat people and their illnesses. Frankenmuth is also the site for District 3’s
meeting on May 17, 2008.
