BIG USED BOOK SALE COMING SEPT. 15 -17
Mark your calendars! Get Ready! Dearborn AAUW’s 60th Annual Used Book Sale is again gearing up for a three-day run next month, September 15, 16, and 17 at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center (DISC).

ALMOST READY - Unloading a final “treasure of donated books” from one of 13 Dearborn area book barrels, this quartette of AAUW Used Book Sale workers grin with relief and anticipation as they prepared for last year's 59th annual sale at the DISC (Dearborn Ice Skating Center). Collected by teams of workers all year, the books will again be offered during the 3-day sale for $1 to $2. Proud to again offer a great selection, are from left, Laurine Griffin, Marilyn Brown, Dolores Markowski and Dottie Barnes.

RECYCLING THEIR BOOKS – “We’re done reading them, and hope others will enjoy them too,” said this trio who dropped off donated books for last year's AAUW Dearborn 59th Annual Used Book Sale. Calling the books “too good for landfills” are Mom and fifth-grade teacher Deanne Jones with sons Benjamin, 8, and Kevin, 5.

USED BOOK SALE PREVIEW – Do these kids love books? The answer seems to be a resounding “Yes!”as they previewed books offered at last year's event. From left, Zachary and Casey Robins, Kevin and Benjamin Jones, and Emily and Lily Robinson.

MOUNTAINS OF BOOKS! – Thousands of books in hundreds of stacked boxes were “discovered” by these six youngsters as they visited the DISC location for a preview of Dearborn AAUW’s 3 day Used Book Sale. Boxes of books of every description plus “tons” of children’s books were explored by, from left, Alexander McCarthy, Kevin Jones, Casey and Zachary Robins, Benjamin Jones, and Lily and Emily Robinson. “We’re coming back for the sale,” they chorused!

READ ME A STORY, MOM! – A special preview of books offered at Dearborn AAUW’s huge Used Book Sale last September, awaited this mom and her daughters during a recent visit to the Dearborn Ice Skating Center (DISC) where preparations were underway for the 59th annual event to benefit local scholarships and educational programs. With Mom Jean Robinson are 1st grader Lily, 6, left, and her 3rd grade sister Emily, 7.

Sorters display just a handful of thousands of books collected from book barrels all year and readied for their huge public Used Book Sale (this year on September 15, 16 and 17), at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center (DISC). From left, Jean Smith, Peg Poceta, Dottie Hartmann, Chris Hillbush and Dolores Markowski.
DEARBORN -- Once again, thousands of “previously owned” books can be purchased for peanuts as Dearborn’s AAUW Used Book Sale opens this week for three days, Sept. 15-17, at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center (DISC).
Doors will open to the public 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday (“Bag Day”). Admission is free. For a $15 fee, on the first day only, “early-birds” can pay $15 at the door Thursday only to shop for two hours, 9-11 a.m., prior to the public sale.
