Ann Arbor Branch

About Us

On May 10 1902,  Mary Markley chaired a meeting of 41 women to form the Ann Arbor Branch of the Association of Collegiate Alumnae, forerunner of the AAUW.  They immediately began to study and work to improve educational and social conditions in the community.  By 1905 they had established a loan fund for women at the University of Michigan.  This commitment to community service and the educational advancement of women has continued throughout over 103 years of the branch's existence.  Our membership usually hovers around 300.  Our branch meetings are held at 7:30 pm on third Tuesdays of the month at the Ann Arbor Women's City Club.
